ÜNDES
Resonance
In Kazakh, ündes means resonance: a vibration that passes through matter and meaning alike. Painted in 2025 and first shown at Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, West Palm Beach, in 2026, Gali’s first solo exhibition in the United States, the series answers the noise of the digital age with paintings made to be experienced slowly.
“ÜNDES is the law that governs alignment, when intention is reflected by the world, like an echo.”
Aiganym Gali
For the first time Gali works on unprimed canvas and with gold leaf. The raw linen grounds each painting; the gold, a metal that never tarnishes, acts as a conductor of light. Circular works such as MANGI and ORDA recall drums and resonant chambers, while ÜNAY, TOGYS and TERBEZ rise like temples aligned to the phases of the moon. At the centre stands TÜNGIR, “the space that holds sound”.
Exhibited: ÜNDES, Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, West Palm Beach, 7 March – 11 April 2026

In conversation
Can art recalibrate perception?
Gali in conversation with the writer and curator Nico Kos Earle, recorded at the opening of ÜNDES at Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, West Palm Beach, in March 2026. They talk about resonance rather than representation, about memory, and about what painting can still do in an age of digital acceleration. 23 minutes.
