TÜNGIR
From the series ÜNDES
TÜNGIR stands at the centre of ÜNDES, Gali’s series on resonance. Like the rest of the series, it is painted on raw canvas, with gold leaf to carry the light. She describes it as “not sound, but the space that holds sound”: the dome of the steppe that throws a voice back, altered and delayed. Where the round paintings in the series, MANGI and ORDA, recall drums, TÜNGIR is the room around them, made to be looked at slowly.
